
Sern bo, also called sern ma is the very first step taught within this school. The main object when training this foot work is to build up strength and with out this solid footwork your techniques will be weak.
When practicing this step and moving you try to have lease movement with the upper torso possible. This helps to build strength within this area of the body and also when moving there’s no telegraph movement with the upper body hence attacking gives less of the movements away.
Within each step we tense for the count of 4 tensing the the neck, chest, and fingers on the waist and making sure keeping the knees inline and visualising gripping with the knees. Also gripping with the toes as well. Trying to make the sinews and tendons stronger. Some key points to try and remember when practicing this step. Before starting the feet are in a “v” position this helps with keeping the rear foot in the correct position helps keeping the knee inline with the foot.Make sure there’s space between the fingers when clawing. Tense the mid section (oblique muscles area) doing this when squeezing the hands strengthens the fingers and the tigers mouth between index finger and thumb. Hardening the tiger mouth will help if you was to us this to strike the throat area. With the knees and feet being in the correct position.
